Count Down to SATC2!

May 1st, 27 days!

So my latest idea is to watch a season a week of Sex and the City reflecting on where I was when I first saw the season and how it helped or hindered my life at the time…right up until the WORLD PREMIER of Sex and the City 2! Which I’m totally psyched about, not surprising!

The first day I decided to start with Sex and the City the Movie, released May 30th 2008. Gosh I was 24 and ready to PAR---TAY! The movie excited me so much and being that I was the “party planner” to all my friends AND having just moved back to Orlando. I planned a huge shindig in ATL where I would have all the girls (and of course my gay hubby) get together for a night of high fashion, cosmos and VIP! Complete with goody bags thanks to yours truly.

The night the movie premiered I was ready with premier ticket in hand; my fabulous Mom was my date. We got all dressed up and headed to the theater. As the movie began I was so enthralled. There were tears, laughs and lots and lots of mouthwatering fashion from start to finish. Everyday fashionista, fashion all the way to high fashion. I was all about it! Mom feared I was trying to be just like the girls in the movie, so did my boyfriend. I just thought ahhhhh to become the writer I’ve always wanted to be and own an apartment in the city, thus to visit whenever I wanted. Of course this way I also have a place to stay during book tours.

But, at 24 while I loved writing I also loved the nightlife and who wants to come home after a
night of gallivanting and write!? So writing was on the back burner and being in the know was right there on the front boiling over!

That weekend I traveled to ATL to celebrate with all my fabulous friends in “MY” city. Just seeing the skyline as I drive in absolutely takes my breath away. It’s the more surreal feeling to feel like you definitely belong somewhere, like you were meant to be there. The feeling never goes away when I’m in the city and only grows stronger.

We gathered and wore out best fashions and high high heels and headed out to Atlantic Station for an unforgettable night. Everyone loved the movie. Although I do remember one person saying it went on and on and some parts were not necessary. I thought which parts?! It all made sense to me!

The DVD came out so quick it was amazing…naturally I was in the store and buying it the day it came out. I couldn’t wait to watch the movie again and again.

Now, 2 years later with the sequel about to break out on the scene I am so far from where I was 2 years ago yet still yearning to be a writer, I’m going to watch and write to share my excitement and my passion for the best show ever created! I sit on my couch, baby boy in his crib fast asleep, merlot poured and ready I press play….

Its incredible how one movie can bring back so many memories! Not just from the premier but from all the times I have watched it.

Each time I notice something different that I missed the previous times. Each time the fashion in the movie just blows me away. My favorite Carrie outfits are the one in the beginning of the movie while apartment hunting with Big. The emerald green Vintage dress and coat paired with the Timmy Woods bag and Verdura bracelet. And the Veronique Branquinho dress she wears when discussing wedding plans with Big. Finally, her Emma Domb turquoise dress with the infamous Manolo Blahnik shoes and Vintage gold necklace (I’ve looked everywhere for a necklace like this one!) The other ladies fashion fit their characters like Manolo Blahniks fit Carrie Bradshaw. Miranda with her sexy business attire yet a little tom boyish looks. Charlotte obviously keeps her Park Ave Mommy like rap. I love her Oscar de la Renta dress paired with Dior shoes and H.Stern earrings for her baby shower. And Samantha, oh Samantha. She really plays on her new LA life still keeping her New York swag. I LOVE IT!

I have to say, I really thought Big and Carrie were finished. But I guess movies such as this were made for chicks like me!

Stay tuned….I start with Season 1 tomorrow!

"Love is just friendship on Fire!"

You know? Life if funny! We learn, we teach and we think we "know" what we want.

Roughly five years ago I met the love of my life. Although I didn't realize it at the time....so I dated him, tested him and allowed him to fall for me....then I pushed him away. Crushed he let me go...it was off and on for sometime....each time ending worse than the last....each time I pushed him away....and each time I broke it off.

Three months ago I moved from Atlanta back to Orlando...I needed a break from the life I was living in Atl. About a month after being in Orlando...

You see I couldn't keep him out of my head. I compared other guys to him...always thinking "Anthony would never do this to me!" I thought about him daily. What a life with him would be like. What a family would be like. So I met up with him. We didn't sleep together...we just hung out. We decided with me going back to Atlanta so soon would make it too hard. The week I was due to move back to Atlanta proved to be a hellacious battle!!!

One extreme to another happened...I stayed with Anthony the challenging move week. I finally made it back to Atlanta on a Tuesday. My brothers drove me here and turned around and went right back home. Anthony and I decided to make it work, long distance, again.

So here I am...in Atlanta. My favorite city!! The place I've made a name for myself. Where it would be best for my career choice. My friends are here. We have a blast together.... Only something is missing....and things aren't the same as before. I'm working at a place that I don't love, I think about the love of my life all the time and being with him, my friends and I never hang out anymore...they are either far away, not true friends, in a relationship, getting married or pregnant.

This time without Anthony it's not right....it's not the same. I remember to the minute when I knew I was in love with him. And I knew to the moment I was scared of that. As we grow and mature..things change. People come and go....you can learn lessons from them or you can be mad and learn nothing.

Anthony has taught me the true meaning of TRUE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. How to love back and recognize that being scared is ok......being scared of failing is ok too....it's when you have someone to catch you when you fall, support you and be there for you. That's when you know you are not only in love but you have a best friend you can always depend on.

So where is this going? Because everyone knows you can't have a marriage and a family long distance...so even though I have only just moved back. And even though I love it here. My love for this man is much stronger than for this city. He's been patient and loving....and now I know what I want!

I want to be with him. I want to move back to Orlando to wake up daily next to him in our bed. I want to grow a garden of fresh veggies and herbs to use on the nights we cook together. Have friends and family over for dinner....brunch...or fun! Sit on our porch and watch the rain with glasses of wine just listening to each other breath along side the rain.

Come the end of March...I will be again an Orlando resident. I will be starting a life with my soul mate. And that feels really good!!!

The rest of your life

The rest of your life is a long time, and whether you know it or not it's being shaped right now.

You can choose to blame your circumstances on fate or bad luck or bad choices...

-OR-

You can fight back! Things aren't always going to be fair in the real world...that's just the way it is. But for the most part, you get what you give.

Let me ask you a question; What's worse? Not getting everything you wished for? Or getting it and finding out it's not enough?

The rest of your life is being shaped right now with the dreams you chase, the choices you make and the person you decide to be.

The rest of your life is a long time...and the rest of your life starts RIGHT NOW!"

What's good for the goose is good for the gander

"I have a girlfriend. Do you hate me?" As I read the text...I thought hate you? I'm not even shocked.

This text came from a guy I had been seeing for about a week and a half. I know it's not long, but new! Not serious, but fun. Enough time to start to think, monogamy?

Not only seeing him, making out with him in public, laughing, joking, flirting...although...he forgot to mention his girlfriend. Coincidence? I think not...convenient! Oh did I mention they have been together for 7 years!

It seems as though men today meet a confident, self assured woman and suddenly come down with amnesia. What do you mean I have a girlfriend/wife? What's my name again? I'm a doctor..errr..I mean trash man....ummm, you're hot!

Snap out of it dude!!!

The next part is extremely commical..."So you don't hate me?" the following text said. "No. I have no one to answer to, you do!" was my reply. "Well I'm not going to tell her. Besides kissing isn't cheating." was his response...

I laughed out loud, quite literally! I was at work and scared clients I laughed so loud! He honestly believed that kissing was not cheating. Only intercourse would be considered so awful! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

LADIES, please take a moment to visualize your man, your husband, your significant other...heavily making out with another all over the city with you at home waiting for them. Would this bother you? Damn right it would! Every time you kissed him you might think he is thinking of her. Every time you made love he might be thinking of making love to her. It's a very touchy territory. You just don't go there!

I believe there are two kinds of cheating categories; Emotional and Physical. I also believe kissing would be considered physical cheating.

MEN, please take a moment to ask yourself if kissing another woman would be considered cheating?

Which leads me to 3 months later, which is just recently. We will just refer to him as Mr. Cheat. So I was at a bar and found out that not only had Mr. Cheat been making out with me all over the city...but sleeping with quite a few others...not including his girlfriend. Is this an accident I found this out....ummm...NO! For some reason people just talk to me. This particular piece of information upset me quite a bit. Not because we didn't sleep together, no no, it was the lying aspect of the whole situation.

So I send a bold text after a few glasses of red. "I find it funny how much of a whore you actually are and aren't the nice guy that made a mistake you portray to be. I only hope that poor girl figures you out sooner than later."

33 missed calls, one right after the other (sent to voice mail each time)
3 voicemails, each deleted without regard
51 text messages later....

I wasn't budging. I was standing my ground. Why should I continue to believe something that someone is saying that obviously has no truth to it. Especially with all the crap he fed me and not only me all of us! "I am a nice guy. I just got caught up. It won't happen anymore..BLAH BLAH BLAH!" I wasn't giving him the satisfaction of an explanation now or ever.

The next evening out with some friends I happen to run into him. UGH! Of course he wanted to talk...surprising! So I went outside with him...instead of listening to him...I put him in his place. He admitted to everything! Each detail, each girl, each situation. I wasn't sure whether to be proud to be the detective that cracked the case or feel bad for the fool.

He told me he couldn't take it anymore and had asked her to come over that night to talk. He "claimed" he was going to tell her everything without mentioning names.

The best part of the story....cheaters please take note!

A week later...I ran into him again. He let me know that the evening he left to talk to her he did in fact tell her everything leaving out names...without hesitation she looked at him and said "I'm glad we are being honest, I've been doing the same thing to you."

The crazy thing is, she wanted to know if they were going to stay together and work on things. The even crazier thing, he was pissed off that she would cheat on him and needed a week to think about things.

Men, Ladies, Cheaters of all kind...please say it with me "What's good for the goose is good for the gander!"
